Double Skipping in National Competitions (Updated on 24/04/15)

NOTICE

Double Skipping in National Competitions

Subsequent to the Bye-laws Version 16 coming into effect on 20th April 2015, the National Championships Panel would like to clarify on the general rules on the practice of double skipping in national competitions.

Double skipping, as described in Bye-law 2.19, is applicable to the following fours national competitions, unless otherwise stated in the conditions of play of the event, namely National Fours Championship and National Mixed Fours Competition.

Double skipping is not permitted in any triples national competitions, unless otherwise stated in the conditions of play of the event.

As a background, Bye-law 2.19 in Section 2 of the Bye-laws on league competitions allows the practice of double skipping and describes how it should be applied in league matches. It has been decided not to include a general clause to this effect for national competitions listed in Section 6 of the Bye-laws due to the varying circumstances of these competitions. Instead, it should be determined on a more flexible ad hoc basis.

Walter Kwok

Vice-President National Championships
